These are some of the countries we make an impact on!
Buenos Aires, Argentina
December, 2023
Keyboards and Ketchup 11th country, Buenos Aires, Argentina. We had the privilege to visit ASANA center; an organization in that serves 42 individuals with disabilities between the ages of 18 and 65. We were taken back when one of the kids offered us "Mate" a hot beverage you drink with straw. It was delicious!
Mexico, Playa Del Carmen- August 2023
Keyboards and Ketchup made it to Mexico again, this time Playa Del Carmen. We visited Kodomo, Inc. a specialized center for people with autism. Its purpose is to make specialized therapies available to a greater number of families for proper management and improvement of the quality of life of children and young adults.
DALLAS, TEXAS- JULY 2023
After 3 years, Keyboards and Ketchup visited the first place in U.S. We were fortunate to visit Ability Connection, a non-profit organization in Dallas, Texas, which was founded in 1953. Ability Connection serves more than 900 Texans individuals with all types of intellectual or other developmental disabilities. We brought them keyboards and other items they needed to continue to support their members.
Haiti- April 2023
Keyboards and Ketchup makes it to Haiti; our 9th country. First stop; “Maison De Benediction”, an organization that takes care of almost 40 individuals with a variety of different disabilities.
Second stop; “Children of the Promise”, an organization whose mission is to provide excellent physical, spiritual, emotional, educational, and economic care for at-risk children and families in Haiti, empowering the most vulnerable and disadvantaged.
Third stop; “Missionaries of the poor”. This is an international Roman Catholic monastic religious institute of Brothers dedicated to serve the poorest of the poor.
Fourth stop; A school for the deaf, founded in 1875.
Fifth and Final stop in Haiti. We visited an amazing group home that houses almost 30 children from 5 to 12 years old living with HIV. Caring for Haitian Orphans with HIV and or AIDS, CHOAIDS, is a nonprofit founded by Marie Denis-Luque.
Tangier, Morocco
July 2022 and Feb 2023
Casa Nazaret Cruz Blanca, a home for 11 individuals, 30 to 50 years old, with mental disabilities. This home is run by Los Hermanos Franciscanos de Cruz Blanca, a Catholic organization with homes all over Spain and two in Tangier, Morocco.
We was fortunate and blessed to have met these people who allowed us to visit them twice; the first time just to meet them and spend some time with them, not knowing we just wanted to bring some donations for them, and a second time, to spend more time with them and bring them some joy through music.
Trinidad and Tobago- May 2022
http://ladyhochoyhome1.com/
Keyboards and Ketchup made it to Trinidad and Tobago and had the honor to visit Lady Hochoy Home. The “Home” as it is affectionately called, is committed to the work of empowering people with intellectual disabilities to ensure that they achieve their full potential for integration into a well-informed society. We were able to visit their residential place, the Home, which host almost 100 individuals, from all ages, and also Lady Hochoy Vocational Centre, a school for almost 80 students.
The Lady Hochoy Vocational Centre provides vocational training for people with disabilities that enable the trainees to reach their full potential, with the long-term goal of becoming integrated into the world of work. They produce their own spicy and non spicy nuts and then sell to stores all over Trinidad and in exchange they receive a small stipend for their work.
Keyboards and Ketchup made it to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and what a blessing was to meet the staff and kids at Fundacion Andrea. Sara and Mariel are a true example of what dedication is; their job is amazing and they take such great care of all of them even with the few resources they receive!
Keyboards and Ketchup made it to Europe; Ireland! We were fortunate to connect with Enable Ireland, an organization that provides services to over 9,400 children and adults with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities in 15 counties across Ireland. This has been one of the most amazing welcoming we have experienced throughout our journey!
Keyboards and Ketchup had the privilege and honor to visit a day program for kids and adults with disabilities in Bogota, Colombia, called “Fundación Fé”. The smiles on these kids faces are enough to melt even the toughest person. They were so happy and grateful to receive donations and supplies from Keyboards and Ketchup to help ease many of the challenges that they may face. These donations will also support the community and families in need.
Puerto Rico - July 2021
http://www.ampipuertorico.org/
Currently, AMPI offers several programs aimed at facilitating the integration of adults with intellectual disabilities into the community, as well as promoting the development of their capacity for independence, improving their educational and recreational skills, serving as a source of information and referrals and provide assisted living services to this population that so badly needs it.
It was amazing to see all the help, resources, the exceptional quality of life they receive at their living facilities but most important, the love and compassion they get from everyone involved. It is our goal to create a partnership with them and use them as our role model.
Cabarete, Dominican Republic - February 2021
Mustard Seed Communities
www.mustardseed.com
We planned a last minute trip with the hopes of spreading love and joy to the children of the North side of the Dominican Republic. We found Mustard Seed Community, a charity organization in Puerto Plata, almost immediately. From babies to the age of late thirties, 45 people in total live in this community. Because of Covid, we were not allowed inside but met with one of the staff members who explained everything about the organization. We brought all of the necessary items for healthy meals, but in true “Keyboards and Ketchup” form, we donated lots of goodies our new found friends would enjoy.
